I created Mick’s Neon Fog after a few years of blogging. I landed on the prose poetry format for a few reasons:
- It’s a punch to the nose
- It’s short and compact, which seems to be easier to read online (or on a phone)
- It’s a damn pleasure to write
- Let’s be honest, prose poetry isn’t a bona fide literary form, so there’s some more room to explore
What is Prose Poetry?
It’s free-verse poetry that doesn’t have line breaks or stanzas.
Maybe that’s not enough of a definition to find its way into an MFA course, but it’s cathartic to write and hopefully cathartic to read.
Going Forward
Other projects are ongoing, but Mick’s Neon Fog is a mainstay (I rely on it).
